Happy New Year everyone!! By the grace of God we made it to a new year and that is something to celebrate. But this isn’t a “do all the things and go harder” type of year. I am easing into this new year and you should too.
Instead of sprinting through January with a mile-long to-do list, unrealistic expectations, or the pressure to be everywhere and do everything all at once. Instead, I’m easing into the new year, slowly, intentionally, and prayerfully.
Productivity does not always equate to purpose. Too often, the thought is, if we’re not constantly moving, achieving, or checking off boxes, we’re somehow falling behind. But that way of living doesn’t produce a life of quality. It produces exhaustion. Do everything and being everything leaves little room for what actually matters.
This year, I’m choosing intention over intensity. I’m focusing on nurturing my relationship with God, because everything flows from there. When we move too fast, we often miss His voice. Slowing down creates space for prayer, reflection, and obedience which allows space to ask God not just what He wants us to do, but how He wants us to live.
I’m also choosing to be present with the people I love. Time with family and friends is not something to squeeze in between obligations; it’s something to cherish and protect. These moments of shared meals, meaningful conversations, quiet laughter are where life is enriched and hearts are filled.
Easing into the new year doesn’t mean a lack of ambition or purpose. It means aligning our pace with God’s grace. It means understanding that rest is holy, stillness is productive, and saying no can be an act of faith.
This year is about living well, not fast. About experiencing the richness of what we truly need and deeply love. About choosing peace, presence, and purpose over pressure.
If you’ve been feeling tired before the year has even fully begun, consider this your permission to slow down. There’s beauty here. And God is not in a hurry.
